15. 02. 2005
The organizers of the PROLEARN session "PROLEARN: Transforming Technology Enhanced Learning" are happy to announce that Wayne Hodgins, Autodesk Inc., will share his views on the future of learning, learning technology and work at Learntec session on Feb. 15, 2pm-5pm.
The session "PROLEARN: Transforming Technology Enhanced Learning" will focus on future research issues in technology enhanced learning, taking into account work results of PROLEARN, the Network of Excellence in Professional Learning but also presenting perspectives and results from outside the NoE.
The session programme includes high ranking speakers that will elaborate on their view of learning supported by advanced technology. Enabling the reuse and exchange of learning objects is one of the major obstacles we still face in our days as Wayne Hodgins will discuss in his presentation on the grand research challenges of learning objects.
In addition, it will be necessary to contextualize and personalize the learning experience at home and at the workplace to improve the learning success rate as Prof. Jarke, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Managing Director of the German Computer Science Society, and Dr. Markus Specht, also Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, will elaborate.
A further thematic priority is the interactivity among learners that needs to be fostered in innovative learning scenarios. Peter Dawabi and Dr. Martin Wessner, both Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, will present advanced tools to improve interactive lectures and the digital facilitation of face-to-face learning scenarios.
More and more companies realize that their well educated employees are their most valuable asset. As a consequence, eLearning becomes part of the daily work life. Guido Grohmann and Gunnar Martin, both DFKI, will discuss relevant business issues for companies in their presentation on business indicators and market factors.
Dr. Jürgen Schmidt, representing the publishing house Ernst Klett Verlag, will discuss technology enhanced learning taking the perspective of a publishing house for eLearning material.
A panel consisting of the speakers will conclude the session. The panel will discuss some of the advances in technology necessary to further improve the learning experience at the work place.
