Call for Papers - LODL 2006First international workshop on "Learning Object Repositories as Digital Libraries: Current challenges"
Alicante, Spain, Sept. 22, 2006
taking place in the context of
This workshop will be jointly organized by the NoEs PROLEARN and Kaleidoscope.
Repositories of learning objects are a key component to support authoring of educational material.
While search and retrieval solutions for educational resources are advancing, the semantic richness of data and metadata remains limited. At the same time, these digital libraries are increasingly turning into "soally aware", open repositories where user behaviour is reflected in attention metadata, ratings and other kinds of quality feedback.
As a result, on one hand, some current developments focus on incorporating a semantic layer in digital learning libraries, often based on ontologies, like for instance a conceptualization of the subject domain. On the other hand, other approaches focus more on the development of web communities and social software to enhance Learning Object repositories.
